The Feynman Technique is a method of finding out information by breaking down the question you have into a few questions. It was developed by Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman. They called Feynman the “Great Explainer.” The Feynman Technique can help to speed up the process of finding a solution to a problem or to find a solution that is more accurate than other methods.
Feynman said that you should take something that is hard to understand and simplify it as if you were talking to a child. It makes people see the idea in a more clear way and helps them see the problem in their mind as simple as if they saw it with their eyes. This is a very simple method. By this, you can remember any difficult and complex theory concept for a long time and you can easily pass the exams.
Steps of the Feynman Technique
It is a 4-step learning method. Let’s talk about these steps in more detail.
1. Choose a topic you want to learn about
What is the topic you want to learn?
Now take a paper and write its topic on it. Choose only one topic without a wide range.
Now study that topic with full attention. Read all related articles, and books, and watch videos. Study this till you understand it exactly. after this go to step 2.
2. Pretend to explain it to a child
Teach this in a way that even the smallest child who knows nothing about your subject can understand. Teach as simply as possible so that a 12-13-year-old child can understand. Teach by using simple everyday words instead of serious words and incomprehensible words. Pretend you are a teacher and teach in a classroom.
While learning like this, you will begin to understand things that you do not understand. Study those places again. Now teach in more simple language.
3. Review your explanation and identify gaps in your understanding
The next step is to review your explanation and identify the gaps in the topic. Then refine them and repeat step 2. Try to use those concepts in your daily life. It means not to use it to do something, but to explain everyday things to yourself.
4. Simplify and Review
When you understand the concept theory completely, give it to your friend or someone who needs that knowledge. They will ask questions. You may get confused. Then You will understand the parts that you missed, so study them again. Teach them as simply as possible.
